The History of K&Mgoes back to the beginning of the 20th century, in Charleston, South Carolina. A recent immigrant from Lebanon...

A.F.Shahid,brimming with hope and enthusiasm, offered goods to the residents of the Carolina Lowcountry from his horse-drawn wagon. From those simple roots grew Shahid's Department Store, a Charleston institution for nearly a century.

In 1992, Albert Shahid, A.F.'s son and then president of Shahid's, saw a need in Columbia, South Carolina's state capital.

His daughter, Diane Shahid Mubarak, living in Columbia, was approached by Sister Canice Adams to have Shahid's provide uniforms for St. John Neumann School. Diane, with her father's encouragement, started K&M Uniforms, named after her daughters Kristina and Michelle. Since its inception, K&M has grown to serve over 11 schools, including parochial, private and public, in the Midlands of South Carolina. It is with great pride that K&M continues the tradition that Diane's father and grandfather built with so much hard work and dedication.
